What these Christmas window clings are

These are static cling window decorations made from PVC. Each piece holds to glass by static alone, so there is no adhesive, no tape and no putty. You press a design onto a clean pane, smooth it down, and it stays. When you want it gone, you lift a corner and peel. No residue is left behind.

The pack is a multi-piece package, which means you get several designs to arrange across one window or spread through the house. The clings are made for glass and bathroom surfaces, so mirrors and shower doors work just as well as a front window.

Sizes and designs

Every sheet in every pack measures 7.9 x 11.8 in (20 x 30 cm). The number of sheets and the mix of designs is what changes from option to option.

Single design options are also available: Santa with horn, Snowman with gift, Snowman with lollipop, Deer with Christmas tree, Gingerbread man, Gingerbread house, Reindeer in stocking, Santa and snowman, and Merry Christmas and gingerbread house.

Where they work

The clings are made for glass and bathroom surfaces. Good spots include:

• Glass cabinet fronts

The static hold works best on smooth, non-porous glass. Skip painted wood, raw brick and textured walls, since the cling needs a flat surface to seal against.

How to put them up

1. Wipe the glass with a damp cloth and let it dry. Dust and grease are the main reasons a cling slides down.
2. Peel the design off its backing sheet.
3. Press it onto the glass and smooth from the center out with your hand or a soft cloth.
4. If a corner lifts, peel it back, wipe the glass again and press once more.

For a layered look, overlap two designs and press the top one down firmly. To reposition, just peel and press again. The cling keeps its hold as long as the glass stays clean.

Care and storage

Wipe the clings with a damp cloth and mild soap when they look smudged. Dry them flat before storing. Do not use abrasive pads, solvents or glass cleaner with ammonia, since those can dull the print.

At the end of the season, peel each piece off and lay the sheets flat between sheets of paper. Store them in a cool, dry place. Flat storage keeps the edges from curling, so the set is ready for the next holiday.

A note on the print

The designs use a flat cartoon style with bold color, which reads clearly from both sides of the glass. The print sits on the face of the PVC, so keep the printed side facing the room if you want the fullest color.
