What is in the pack

Ten self-adhesive foam tiles, each 13.8 x 15 in (35 x 38 cm). The brick courses are cut so the edges interlock: line one tile up against the next and the bricks carry on across the joint. One pack covers 14.3 sq ft (1.33 m²).

Colors

  • White, Gray and Black: plain foam brick, where the relief makes the pattern.
  • Sand: a warm beige brick.
  • Gray stone: printed gray and white stacked stone.
  • Gray marble: soft gray veining across the bricks.
  • Stars: white brick with small printed stars.

Planning a wall

Work out the wall area in square feet, add 10% for cuts and divide by 14.3 to get the number of packs. A wall 6 ft wide and 8 ft tall is 48 sq ft, or about 53 sq ft with cuts, so 4 packs.

Lay tiles from a level line rather than from the floor or ceiling, since rooms are rarely square. Starting in the middle of the wall at eye height and working outward puts any cut tiles at the edges, where they show least.

Fitting tips

  • Wash the wall with mild soap and water and let it dry fully.
  • Draw a level pencil line for the first row.
  • Peel the backing and press each tile from the center outward. You can lift and reposition it in the first few seconds.
  • Match the brick edges of every new tile to its neighbor, then press the seam firmly.
  • Cut with a sharp utility knife against a ruler. Large scissors also cut the foam cleanly.

Good spots and bad spots

They suit headboard walls, the wall behind a TV or desk, alcoves, and the lower half of a wall below a rail. Being foam, they soften the look of a wall and shrug off small bumps better than paper, but a sharp hit leaves a dent.

Keep them away from showers, cooktops and heaters, and do not fit them on textured, damp or freshly painted walls. Peeling them off later can lift weak paint, so test a hidden spot first if you rent.

Questions

How many packs cover a wall?

Each pack of 10 covers 14.3 sq ft (1.33 m²). Work out your wall area in square feet, add 10% for cuts and divide by 14.3, then round up to the next whole pack.

Do the joins between tiles show?

Barely, once tiles are lined up well. Each tile is cut along the brick courses, so the seam falls along a mortar line. Press the edges firmly after fitting so they sit flush.

Can I fit them on a ceiling?

They are light enough for a ceiling if the surface is clean and sound. Press each tile hard across its whole face. For a whole ceiling, the larger 27.6 in square embossed ceiling tiles in this range are quicker to fit.

Can I take them down later?

Yes. Warm a corner with a hair dryer, then peel slowly at a low angle. On sound paint they come away cleanly; on weak or chalky paint some paint may come away with them.

Will the color match between packs?

Packs in the same order come from the same stock, so they match. Order every pack for one wall at the same time and lay the tiles out before you start.
