Why a pack of 20

White brick is the most popular look for a feature wall, and a whole wall takes a lot of panels. This pack holds 20 white panels, twice a standard pack, so a wall of around 28 sq ft is one order instead of several. All panels in a pack come from the same batch, so the white stays even across the wall.

What the panels are

Each panel is a sheet of soft foam with a white brick relief: raised bricks with recessed mortar lines that throw small shadows. The back is self-adhesive under a peel-off film. Panels measure 13.8 x 15 in (35 x 38 cm), and the brick courses are cut so the panels lock into each other edge to edge.

White suits almost any room. It brightens a dark hallway, gives a bedroom a loft feel and makes a quiet backdrop for shelves, art and plants.

Planning

  • 1 pack covers 28.6 sq ft (2.66 m²), about a wall 5 ft wide and 5.5 ft tall.
  • 2 packs cover 57.2 sq ft (5.32 m²), about a wall 8 ft wide and 7 ft tall.

Add 10% for cuts around windows, outlets and corners, and round up.

Fitting

Wash the wall and let it dry completely. Draw a level line for the first row, since floors and ceilings are rarely straight. Peel the film, set the panel against the line and press from the center out. Fit the next panel so the bricks continue across the join, then press the seams firmly. Trim edges with a sharp utility knife against a ruler.

Care and removal

Wipe with a damp cloth and a little mild soap. White foam picks up marks at hand height over time, so a quick wipe now and then keeps it bright. Keep panels away from showers, stoves and heaters. To take them down, peel slowly at a low angle; on weak paint the adhesive may pull some paint away, so test a corner first if you rent.

Questions

How is this different from the 10-pack foam brick tiles?

The panels are the same size, 13.8 x 15 in, and both are self-adhesive foam brick. This pack comes only in white and holds 20 panels, which usually works out cheaper per panel when you are covering a whole wall.

What shade of white is it?

A soft white, like painted brick, rather than a glossy bright white. Screens show white differently, so if you are matching existing trim or paint, compare a panel in daylight when it arrives.

Can I paint the panels?

Many people paint white foam brick to suit a room, using a water-based wall paint and a small foam roller. Try it on an offcut first, and avoid spray paint and solvent paint, which can eat into foam.

Will they stay up in a humid room?

Normal room humidity is fine. Steam is not: keep the panels out of showers and away from kettles and cooktops, where moist heat softens the adhesive.
