What this contact paper is

This is a vinyl contact paper with a self-adhesive paper backing. The face has a light beige wood grain pattern, and the back peels away to expose the adhesive. Press it onto a smooth surface and it holds. When you want it gone, lift an edge and pull it back slowly. It is removable, so it works well for renters and for anyone who likes to change a room without a big project.

The vinyl surface is water-resistant and moisture-proof. A damp cloth handles most everyday marks, so it suits kitchens, baths and utility areas where splashes happen.

Sizes

Pick the roll that matches your surface. All sizes are 15.7 in (40 cm) or 21.7 in (55 cm) wide.

Size Best for
15.7 x 39.4 in (40 x 100 cm) Small shelves, drawer fronts, quick touch-ups
15.7 x 78.7 in (40 x 200 cm) Cabinet doors, narrow counters, craft projects
15.7 x 118.1 in (40 x 300 cm) Full cabinet runs, desk tops, bookcase backs
15.7 x 196.9 in (40 x 500 cm) Long counters, multiple shelves, larger rooms
21.7 x 78.7 in (55 x 200 cm) Wider counters, table tops, wardrobe panels
21.7 x 118.1 in (55 x 300 cm) Kitchen islands, wide cabinet banks
21.7 x 196.9 in (55 x 500 cm) Big projects, full wall sections, long surfaces

Measure your surface before you order. Add a little extra so you can trim the edges cleanly.

Color and look

The color is light beige wood grain. The grain runs along the roll, so plan how you want the pattern to sit before you cut. Light beige is a soft neutral. It pairs with white, cream, gray and warm wood tones, and it reads calm in a kitchen, a bedroom or a study.

The finish is a classic wood look rather than a glossy print. It gives cabinets and shelves a warmer face without a heavy remodel.

Where to use it

This contact paper is made for smooth walls, countertops, wardrobes and shelves. Common spots include:

  • Kitchen cabinet doors and drawer fronts
  • Shelf liners in pantries, closets and cupboards
  • Countertops and small table tops
  • Wardrobe panels and the backs of open shelving
  • Desk tops and craft room surfaces
  • Rental kitchens and apartments where you want a change you can undo

The surface needs to be smooth, clean and dry. Textured walls, rough wood and unfinished concrete will show bumps through the vinyl and can keep the adhesive from holding. Wipe the surface first, let it dry, then apply.

How to apply it

  1. Clean the surface and let it dry fully.
  2. Measure twice and cut the roll with a little overhang on each side.
  3. Peel back a few inches of the paper backing.
  4. Press the vinyl down at one edge and smooth it outward with your hand or a soft cloth.
  5. Keep peeling the backing as you go, a little at a time.
  6. Push out air bubbles toward the nearest edge as you work.
  7. Trim the overhang with a sharp blade along the edge.

For cabinet doors, take the door off the hinge if you can. It is easier to lay the door flat and work the paper down from the top. For shelves, cut the liner slightly larger than the shelf and trim after it is down.

If you need to lift and reset a section, do it slowly. The adhesive lets you reposition while the paper is still fresh.

Care

Wipe the surface with a damp cloth and a mild household cleaner. Dry it after. The vinyl is water-resistant and moisture-proof, so normal kitchen and bath splashes are fine. Avoid abrasive pads and harsh solvents, which can dull the print. Do not let water sit at the seams for long periods.

Removal

Lift a corner and pull the vinyl back at a low angle. Warm air from a hair dryer on a low setting can help if the adhesive feels tight. Any sticky residue left behind comes off with a mild cleaner and a soft cloth.

Questions

Will this contact paper damage my cabinets when I remove it?

It is removable, so it lifts off without tools. Pull slowly at a low angle, and warm the surface with a hair dryer on low if the adhesive feels tight.

What surfaces does it stick to?

Smooth walls, countertops, wardrobes and shelves. The surface must be clean, dry and smooth. Rough or textured surfaces can keep the adhesive from holding.

Can I use it in a kitchen or bathroom?

Yes. The vinyl is water-resistant and moisture-proof, so it handles everyday splashes. Wipe it clean with a damp cloth and dry it after.

How do I choose the right size?

Measure the surface you want to cover, then pick the closest roll. Sizes run from 15.7 x 39.4 in (40 x 100 cm) up to 21.7 x 196.9 in (55 x 500 cm). Order a little extra for trimming.
