What These Carpet Tiles Are

Soft Step Carpet Floor Tiles are square mats made of flannelette with a self-adhesive backing. You peel the liner and press each tile onto a clean, flat floor. The soft surface feels warm underfoot and helps quiet the sound of footsteps in hallways, bedrooms, dining rooms and kitchens.

The tiles work as a quick floor refresh for rentals, basements, dorm rooms and craft areas. You can lay them wall to wall or use a few as a small rug by the sink, the door or the side of the bed.

Sizes and Pack Options

Every sheet is the same size, so you can mix colors and packs to fit your space.

A single sheet is handy for sampling a color or patching a small spot. The 20 sheet packs suit a doorway, a hallway runner or a small bathroom. The 40 sheet packs in two-color mixes cover a larger area and let you build a simple checker or border pattern.

Colors and Simple Patterns

Five solid colors are available: navy blue, khaki, brown, black and light gray. Navy blue and black give a deeper, grounded look. Khaki, brown and light gray keep things soft and neutral.

Two 40 sheet packs pair colors for you: black and light gray, or khaki and brown. Alternate the two shades in a checkerboard, lay them in stripes, or frame a plain center with a border. Because every tile is the same size, the pattern stays even as you work across the floor.

How to Fit Them

Start with a clean, dry, flat floor. Sweep or vacuum away dust, then wipe the surface and let it dry fully.

1. Plan your layout. Lay a few tiles dry before peeling anything, so you can check the pattern and the edges.
2. Mark a starting line. Begin at a wall or in the center of the room, whichever gives you the cleanest border.
3. Peel and press. Remove the backing from one tile and press it down from the center outward.
4. Keep the seams tight. Butt each new tile against the last one so the edges meet with no gaps.
5. Trim the last row. Cut edge tiles with scissors or a utility knife, then press them into place.

For a firm hold, press each tile with your hands or walk over the finished area. If you need to lift a tile, peel it up slowly from a corner and reset it.

Care and Everyday Use

Vacuum these tiles like a low-pile rug. For spots, blot with a damp cloth and a little mild soap, then let the area air dry. Avoid soaking the seams or flooding the floor with water.

A few notes help them last. Keep them out of standing water and away from constant heavy moisture. Use a mat at entry doors to catch grit. If a tile shifts, lift it, clean the floor beneath it and press it back down. Spare tiles from a 20 or 40 sheet pack make quick replacements for worn spots.
