What Soft Step Carpet Tile is

Soft Step Carpet Tile is a square of non-woven polyester carpet with a self-adhesive backing. The surface is 100% polyester, so it feels soft underfoot and stands up to everyday use. The backing sticks on its own, with no glue, tape or tools. When you want a change, lift a tile and peel it away. It comes off without residue, so the surface underneath stays as it was.

This is a practical option for renters, for a room that needs a warmer surface, or for anyone who wants to cover a small area without a permanent install. The tiles are water resistant, which makes them easy to spot clean.

Size and coverage

Each pack holds 10 sheets. Every sheet is a square, so the tiles line up in a simple grid.

Size Sheets per pack Coverage
11.8 x 11.8 in (30 x 30 cm) 10 10.8 sq ft (1 m2)

Measure your space before you order. For a rough count, divide the floor area by 10.8 sq ft (1 m2) to see how many packs you need. Buy a little extra if you plan to cut around door frames, corners or furniture legs. A spare tile or two also helps if you want to swap a square later.

Colors

Soft Step Carpet Tile comes in 11 colors:

  • Light green
  • Beige
  • Black
  • Khaki
  • Brown
  • Dark blue
  • Black gray
  • Black red
  • Dark brown
  • Light gray
  • Dark gray

Neutral shades like Beige, Khaki, Light gray and Dark gray blend into most rooms. Black, Black gray and Dark brown give a deeper floor. Light green, Dark blue and Black red add a clear color block. You can use one color across a whole area or mix two or three shades in a checker or stripe pattern.

Where it works

These tiles suit flat, smooth, ash free surfaces. A clean, dry floor gives the best hold. Common spots include bedrooms, dining rooms, basements, home offices and pet areas. The soft surface cushions steps and helps muffle sound compared with bare hard flooring.

Because the tiles are water resistant, a quick wipe handles small spills. They are not a replacement for a waterproof floor in a wet room, so keep them out of standing water.

How to fit the tiles

  1. Clear the floor and sweep or vacuum it. Remove dust, grit and grease. Let the surface dry fully.
  2. Let the tiles sit in the room for a few hours so they settle to room temperature. This makes them easier to lay flat.
  3. Plan your layout. Dry fit a row or two before you peel any backing. Start at a straight wall or in the center of the room, whichever gives you the cleanest edges.
  4. Peel the backing from one tile and press it onto the floor. Work from one corner and smooth the tile down with your hand.
  5. Butt the next tile against the first. Keep the seams tight and the grid straight.
  6. Trim edge tiles with a utility knife or heavy scissors. Cut with the tile face up and use a straight edge as a guide.
  7. Press down the full floor once more when you finish. This helps the adhesive grip.

If you need to lift a tile, peel it up slowly from a corner. You can set it back down if the backing is still clean. For a firm hold, avoid dragging furniture across the seams.

Care and cleaning

Vacuum the tiles like you would a low pile rug. For spots, wipe with a damp cloth and a mild cleaner, then let the area air dry. Blot spills rather than soaking the carpet. Water resistant means small amounts of liquid sit on the surface long enough for you to wipe them up.

To keep the floor looking even, rotate or swap tiles between high traffic spots every few months. If a tile gets worn or stained, peel it up and replace it with a spare. Store unused tiles flat in a dry place.

Questions

Do these carpet tiles need glue or adhesive?

No. Each tile has a self-adhesive backing that presses onto the surface. There is no glue, tape or underlay to add.

How much floor does one pack cover?

One pack has 10 sheets, and each sheet is 11.8 x 11.8 in (30 x 30 cm). The pack covers 10.8 sq ft (1 m2).

Can I remove them without damaging the floor?

Yes. Peel a tile up slowly from a corner and it comes away without residue. The surface underneath stays as it was.

What surfaces can I put them on?

Use them on flat, smooth, ash free surfaces. Clean and dry the surface first so the backing holds well.
