What these floor tiles are

These are peel and stick floor tiles made of matte PVC vinyl. Each sheet has a self-adhesive backing, so you press it onto a clean, flat surface and it holds. The matte finish keeps the look soft and low-glare, closer to real wood than a shiny plastic sheet.

The wood grain pattern runs across the sheet in a plank shape. That shape is what gives you the classic floorboard look once the sheets are laid side by side.

Sizes and pack count

Every sheet in every color is the same size.

Ten sheets cover a small area, so measure your space first and work out how many packs you need. Ordering a spare pack is a good habit if you plan to cut around corners, vents or door frames.

Colors

Pick the wood tone that matches your room. The options are:

  • Light gray wood
  • Gray wood
  • Light wood
  • Dark brown wood
  • Whitewashed wood
  • Gray brown wood
  • Natural oak
  • Beige wood
  • Dark gray wood
  • Light brown wood
  • Dark charcoal wood

Light wood, natural oak and beige wood suit bright rooms and pale walls. Gray wood, gray brown wood and dark gray wood lean cooler. Dark brown wood and dark charcoal wood give a deeper, grounded look. Whitewashed wood sits in the middle and works with most palettes.

Where they work

These tiles are made for floors, and the self-adhesive backing means no glue, no nails and no special tools. Common spots include rental kitchens, entryways, laundry rooms, basements, closets and small bathrooms.

The surface matters more than the room. Vinyl sticks best to smooth, flat, dry and clean floors such as sealed concrete, tile, linoleum and finished wood. Rough, textured, uneven or damp surfaces will not hold well. Let any fresh paint or sealer cure fully before you start.

How to fit them

  1. Clear the floor and sweep or vacuum it. Wash away grease and dust, then let it dry completely.
  2. Let the pack sit in the room for a few hours so the vinyl reaches room temperature. Cool vinyl is stiffer and harder to press flat.
  3. Plan the layout before you peel anything. Dry-fit a few sheets to see how the grain lines up and where the cut edges will land.
  4. Start at one corner or along the longest straight wall. Peel the backing off a single sheet and press it down from one end to the other, smoothing as you go.
  5. Work outward in rows. Butt each sheet against the last one so the seams stay tight.
  6. Cut around edges, corners and fixtures with scissors or a utility knife. Score the vinyl first, then snap or cut through.
  7. Press the whole floor down once more with a clean cloth or a rolling pin. This pushes out trapped air and helps the adhesive grip.

If you need to lift a sheet to fix a mistake, peel it back slowly from a corner. The adhesive is forgiving while the sheet is still fresh.

Care

These tiles are waterproof and wipe clean. Sweep or vacuum as you would any floor. For spills and marks, use a damp cloth with mild soap, then dry the surface. Skip abrasive pads, harsh solvents and heavy scrubbing, since they can dull the matte finish.

A few habits keep the floor looking its best. Wipe up standing water rather than letting it sit. Put a mat at outside doors to catch grit. Use felt pads under furniture legs so chairs and tables do not scuff the vinyl.

Before you buy

Check three things. First, the square footage you need against the coverage of a 10 sheet pack. Second, the surface: smooth and flat only. Third, the color against your cabinets, walls and trim in your own lighting, since wood tones shift between rooms.

If you are covering a large area, buy all your packs at once so the color and grain match from the same run.

Questions

How many square feet does one pack cover?

Each pack has 10 sheets at 15.75 x 5.98 in (40 x 15.2 cm). Measure your floor area and compare it to that coverage before ordering, and add a spare pack for cuts and corners.

Do these tiles need extra glue or tools?

No. Each sheet has a self-adhesive backing, so you peel and press. Scissors or a utility knife are all you need for trimming around edges and fixtures.

Can I use them in a bathroom or kitchen?

Yes. The matte PVC vinyl is waterproof and wipes clean, which suits kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms and entryways. Just make sure the floor underneath is smooth, flat, dry and clean.

Can I remove them later without damage?

They are peel and stick, so they lift off by peeling from a corner. Warm the vinyl slightly if it feels stiff, and pull slowly to keep the adhesive from grabbing.
