Travertine and limestone cladding is heavy, costly and a job for a tiler. This roll gets you the look with a thin, flexible PVC sheet that carries a fine stone texture in its surface: small pits, soft veins and a matte finish you can feel. Because it bends, it follows gentle curves and wraps the edge of a pillar, and it cuts with a utility knife or strong scissors.
Each roll is 15.7 in (40 cm) wide and 9.8 ft (3 m) long, so one strip runs from ceiling to floor on most walls with no cross joins. One roll covers 12.9 sq ft (1.2 m²).
Measure the wall width in inches and divide by 15.7 to get the number of strips, then round up. If your ceiling is lower than 9.8 ft, each strip is one roll. A wall 10 ft (120 in) wide takes 8 strips, so 8 rolls. Order everything for one wall at once so the finish matches.
Clean the wall and let it dry. Draw a plumb line for the first strip, since corners are rarely straight. Peel back about 12 in (30 cm) of backing, set the top of the strip at the ceiling, and smooth it down and outward with a plastic smoother or a soft cloth. Keep peeling and pressing in short sections. Butt the next strip against the first without overlapping, trim the bottom at the baseboard and cut out outlets with a sharp blade.
It suits living room and bedroom feature walls, entry halls, the wall behind a dining table, and shops and salons that want a stone backdrop. It cleans with a damp cloth. Keep it away from showers, stove backsplashes and heaters, and fit it only on smooth, sound, dry walls. As with any adhesive wall covering, removal can lift weak paint, so test a hidden spot if you rent.
No. It is a flexible PVC sheet with a stone texture and print. From a normal viewing distance it looks like travertine or concrete cladding and it has a real textured feel, but it weighs a fraction of stone and cuts with a knife.
Yes. It bends enough to wrap an outside corner or a rounded column. Warm it slightly with a hair dryer for tighter bends and press it firmly on both sides of the corner.
On a dry bathroom wall away from the shower, yes, and it wipes clean with a damp cloth. Do not use it inside a shower or tub surround, where water keeps getting behind the edges.
Butted seams on a stone texture are hard to see from across a room. Cut edges straight against a ruler, butt them tight and run the pattern the same way up on every strip.
