One roll of frosted PVC film printed with a black diamond lattice. It fixes to glass with water and static cling, with no glue. Choose 17.7 or 21.7 in wide in 9.8 or 16.4 ft lengths, or 35.4 or 47.2 in wide in 16.4 ft lengths for glass doors and large windows.
The black lines give plain glass the character of a leaded window, as seen in older houses, on pantry doors and in country kitchens. It looks at home with black window frames and hardware, farmhouse and Tudor styles, French doors and glass cabinet fronts. From outside, the lattice reads clearly against the frost, so it also smartens up a front door or a street-facing window.
The ground between the lines is frosted, so it blurs the view in both directions, by day and at night. It gives the same privacy as a plain frosted film, with the pattern on top. A silhouette can show when someone stands close to the glass with a light behind them.
On a row of panes, the diamonds look best when they line up from one pane to the next. Cut each piece from the same point in the pattern, and allow a little extra length for this. On a door with several small panes, start in the middle pane and work outward.
Measure the glass inside the frame and pick a roll at least 1.5 in (4 cm) wider than the pane. A 21.7 in x 16.4 ft roll covers four panes about 20 in wide and 47 in tall. The wide rolls cover most patio and French door panes without a join. The calculator on this page counts the rolls for your panes.
Clean the glass and spray it with water and a drop of dish soap. Peel the film from its backing, spray the back of the film and lay it on. Check that the lines run square to the frame before you squeegee from the center out. Trim with a sharp knife along the frame and squeegee once more. See our measure and make guide for the full method.
Smooth, flat glass indoors. It will not hold on textured or patterned glass and is not for car windows. On double-pane windows or coated glass, check the window manufacturer's guidance first.
Yes. The ground between the black lines is frosted, and frosted film blurs the view both ways at any time of day. Only a silhouette right against the glass can show.
Only along the thin lines themselves. Most of the pane is frost, which lets daylight through softened, so the room stays bright.
Start with the middle pane and cut every other piece from the same point in the pattern, so the diamonds continue across the bars. Allow a little extra film for the matching.
Yes, on smooth flat glass. Fit it on the inside of the door, trim it to the glass with a sharp knife and squeegee it well so the edges stay down.
