What it is and what it is made of

This is a matte black PVC film with a self-adhesive backing. Press it onto flat glass and it blocks light and sightlines in both directions. The finish is flat, not glossy, so it reads as a solid dark panel rather than a mirror. It suits flat single or double glazing and works on bedroom windows, rental glass, and any pane where you want the room to go dark.

Size and coverage

Size Coverage
57 x 78.7 in (145 x 200 cm) 31.1 sq ft (2.9 m2)

Pick the sheet that matches your pane. A single sheet covers the full area listed, so measure the glass first and add a little overlap if you plan to wrap the edges. The 57 x 78.7 in (145 x 200 cm) size is the standard pick for a typical bedroom window.

What comes in the pack

Each pack holds 1 sheet, 1 bag, 1 m of velcro, and 1 tape measure. The velcro gives you a second way to hold the film in place if you would rather not rely on the adhesive alone. The tape measure helps you check the pane before you cut.

How to fit it

  1. Measure the glass and note the width and height.
  2. Clean the pane with water and a lint-free cloth. Let it dry fully.
  3. Cut the film about 1 in (2.5 cm) larger than the glass on each side.
  4. Peel the backing away from one corner.
  5. Press the film onto the glass, working from the center outward to push out air.
  6. Smooth the surface with a soft cloth or card.
  7. Trim the edges with a sharp blade against a straight edge.
  8. If you prefer, press the velcro strip along the frame and use it to hold the film.

Work on a flat pane. Curved or textured glass will not give a clean bond. If the film is cold, let it sit indoors for a few hours before you start.

Where it works

Use it on flat single or double glazing in bedrooms, rentals, and home offices. It blocks the view in both directions, so it also suits street-facing windows and ground-floor glass. Because the sheet is solid black, it does not let daylight through. That makes it a fit for sleep, shift work, and media rooms, and a poor fit for a window you want to keep bright.

Care and removal

The surface wipes clean with a damp cloth and a little mild soap. Skip abrasive pads and strong solvents, which can dull the matte finish. To remove the film, lift a corner and pull it back slowly at a low angle. Warmth from a hair dryer on a low setting can soften the adhesive if the film has been up for a long time. Any sticky residue comes off with warm soapy water. Store unused sheets flat, backing side down, away from direct sun.

Before you buy

Check two things: the pane size and the glass type. This film is made for flat single or double glazing. It is not cut for curved glass, and it will not sit flat over textured or patterned panes. If you are covering more than one window, order a sheet for each pane so you have a single-piece cover with no seams.

Questions

Does this film block the view in both directions?

Yes. It gives full privacy and blocks the view in both directions, so people outside cannot see in and you cannot see out.

What size is the sheet and how much does it cover?

The 57 x 78.7 in (145 x 200 cm) sheet covers 31.1 sq ft (2.9 m2). Measure your pane before you pick.

How does it attach to the glass?

It has a self-adhesive backing that presses onto the pane. The pack also includes 1 m of velcro if you would rather hold the film that way.

Will it fit curved or textured glass?

No. It is made for flat single or double glazing. Curved, textured, or patterned panes will not give a clean bond.
