One roll of white vinyl wallpaper printed with black line drawings, with a lightly embossed surface and a self-adhesive back under a peel-off liner. It measures 17.3 in x 9.8 ft (44 x 300 cm) and covers 14.2 sq ft (1.32 m²).
Black on white is one of the easiest prints to live with. It has the detail of a floral without the color, so it works with almost any furniture, from black iron and dark wood to pale oak and white trim.
One roll covers one strip on a wall up to about 9 ft tall. Divide the wall width in inches by 17.3 and round up, then add a roll for pattern matching. A wall 8 ft wide takes 6 rolls, with a 7th as a spare.
Start from a plumb line, not from a corner. Peel back a few inches of liner, set the strip at the ceiling with 2 in spare, and smooth it down from the center out while you pull the liner away. Line up the drawing on the next strip, butt the seam and trim top and bottom with a sharp knife against a straight edge. On a white ground, a clean seam matters, so press each one flat with a seam roller or a soft cloth. See our measure and make guide for the full method.
Bedrooms, entryways, stair walls, laundry rooms and home offices are all good spots, as are smaller jobs like dresser drawers, the back of open shelving or a closet. The vinyl wipes clean with a damp cloth.
Use it on smooth, dry, painted walls. Skip showers, the wall behind a stove, textured plaster and paint that is less than two weeks old.
Bold peony has the largest flowers and the most black on the wall. Peony garden is busier but finer, so it reads as a soft texture from a distance, and Lily and dragonfly leaves the most white showing.
Not on a light or mid-tone wall. On a very dark wall a faint shadow can show, so paint a dark wall white or a pale gray before you paper it.
Yes. Clean and dry the surface, cut each piece a little larger than the panel and trim it in place with a sharp knife. Wrap the edges or stop just short of them, depending on how the piece is used.
Wipe it with a soft damp cloth and a drop of mild soap, then dry it. Avoid scrubbing pads and solvent cleaners, which can dull the print.
