What this film is

Clear Shield Window Security Film is a clear PET sheet, 4 mil (0.1 mm) thick, made for flat glass windows and doors. It sticks with a self-adhesive backing, so it holds tight to the glass and helps keep broken pieces together if the pane cracks. It also adds heat insulation, which can make a sunny room feel more comfortable.

The film stays clear once applied. It does not change the color of your glass or block your view. Use it on home windows, glass doors, office partitions and other flat glass surfaces.

Measure your glass before you order. If your pane is wider than one roll, you can line up two rolls side by side. A small overlap keeps the coverage solid.

How to fit it

  1. Clean the glass with a mild soap and water mix. Dry it with a lint-free cloth.
  2. Measure the pane and cut the film about 1 in (2.5 cm) larger on each side. You can trim the edges after it is on.
  3. Peel back a few inches of the backing. Press the film onto the top of the glass.
  4. Slowly peel the rest of the backing away while you push the film down with a squeegee or a soft cloth. Work from the center out to push out air and water.
  5. Trim the extra film along the frame with a sharp blade.
  6. Let it set for a day before you clean it.

A second pair of hands helps on large panes. Take your time and smooth out bubbles as you go.

Where it works

Use this film on flat glass windows and doors at home or in an office. It suits bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and living room windows.

Because it is clear, it keeps your view and your light. The heat insulation helps cut some of the sun's warmth on hot days. The anti-shatter layer helps hold glass in place if it breaks, which can reduce the chance of loose shards.

Care

Wait about 24 hours after fitting before you clean the glass. Use a soft cloth and a mild soap and water mix. Skip abrasive pads, strong solvents and razor blades on the film. A squeegee with a soft edge is fine for light cleaning. Check the edges now and then and press down any spot that lifts.

Questions

Does this film make my window look dark or tinted?

No. This film is clear, so it keeps your view and your light. It adds anti-shatter and heat insulation without changing the color of the glass.

Can I cut it to fit a smaller window?

Yes. Cut the film about 1 in (2.5 cm) larger than the pane, fit it, then trim the edges with a sharp blade. A straight edge helps you get a clean line.

How thick is the film?

It is 4 mil (0.1 mm) thick PET. That thickness gives it the body it needs for anti-shatter and explosion-proof use on flat glass.

Will it hold up on a glass door?

Yes. It is made for flat glass windows and doors. Clean the glass first, press the film down well, and let it set for a day before heavy use.
